TWO RIVERS DOG MUSHERS ASSOCIATION
JUNE 6, 2002
MINUTES OF THE MEETING
Kevin Lupo, President, called the meeting to order at 7:40.
- Due to the recent fire on CHSR, dog welfare was the first topic of the meeting. A proposal was made to contact ADMA to see if the TRDMA and the local kennel owners of Two Rivers could use their race grounds as an emergency staging area for dogs in danger of fire. Becky Alexander will contact the ADMA. We would like to get a roster of all kennel owners and dog truck owners in Two Rivers for emergency evacuation.
- The race is on. The 100/200 mile TRDMA race trail has been approved. The race will take place 27-30 December 2002. The trail is from Chatanika to Angel Creek to Fairbanks. The trail will need work in the fall.
- Kevin Lupo and Bill McKee will contact Fort Knox Gold Mine to ask for sponsorship for the 100/200 mile race. Becky Alexander will contact Chatanika Lodge and Angel Creek, Kevin will contact Valley Center and the Chena River Convention Center to see if they are in agreement with our plans and dates and prices on use of facilities, food, etc.
- The 2002-2003 race schedule was agreed upon. It is as follows:
- November 23, 2002 TWO RIVERS TUNE UP
- December 27-30, 2002 100/200 mile (name to be decided)
- February 8, 2002 HAMBURGER QUEST
- March 8, 2002 THE MYSTERY RACE
- March 29, 2002 VALLEY FUNALE
- Kids races were again brought up at the meeting. Alan Compare will check with our insurance company on the exact regulations on this issue.
- Fund raising was discussed. Raffling off a 4 wheeler or snow machine and having a space at the Tanana Valley Fair was suggested. We have a free booth at the ADMA Symposium. Suggested the final draw being there. Will check with local dealers to see if they will offer a deal. We would need a gaming license or borrow one from another club to do this.
- T-shirts for the main races was another option on raising money for our club. Raven Screens has our logo on file. Becky will check on pricing.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15pm.
The next meeting will be July 11 due to the July 4th weekend.
